Labush, Norman Allen Ed.D 4/25/1954 passed away suddenly Sunday, November 9. His life was dedicated to education. Teaching for the past 32 years in Broward County, at Cooper City Elementary for the past 19 years. He felt so strongly about teaching that he mentored many teachers and worked as an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Betty; daughter Jennifer; daughter Stephanie (Jamie) Anderson; granddaughter Hailey; Father Philip (Barbara); brothers Wayne and Edward.

Dr. Labush was passionate about nature, animals, and teaching future generations about our environment. This lead him to many amazing travels with his wife. He also volunteered traveling with Earthwatch to help with research projects. He spent many hours volunteering over the past 15 years at the Museum of Science and Discovery.

Memorial services will be held November 11th at Fred Hunter’s 2401 S. University Drive, Davie, FL 33324. Visitation with family from 5-6:30pm with services immediately following.

My Biography
     I have been an educator for 31 years in South Florida.  My experience includes teaching and working with students from pre-school through eighth grade, at the college level, and computer lab instructor.  I have worked in both the public and private sector as a teacher, A.P., and principal.  I currently teach 5th grade in the Broward County School System and adjunct at F.A.U.

    I have presented workshops at the National Conference of Teachers of Mathematics.  The workshops are available online, Unifix Cubes and Pattern Blocks for Hands On Learning and Mastering Fractions.
    I am a National Board Certified Teacher, Middle Childhood/Generalist NBPTS Website and  I am listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers.

    My education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Administration and Supervision of Elementary Schools. My Doctorate of Education (F.I.U. 1993) is in educational leadership. The area of my dissertation is school law.

   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 My interests include outdoor activities, photography (still and video), the environment, science, and travel. I have traveled throughout the U.S.  Over the last 5 summers I  ventured to the Galapagos Islands and the Amazonian Rain forest,

Trip to England, Italy, a safari in Kenya,
participated in conservation research projects for Earthwatch in the Pantanal in Brazil; Nova Scotia, Canada; and Robben Island, South Africa..

    I enjoy volunteering at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) in Ft. Lauderdale working in "Programs."  My favorite activity is presenting animals.  Have you ever touched an alligator?
    I have also worked with the National Park Service, Girl Scouts, and coached soccer.

     I am a self-taught computer programmer and web page developer.
